Good morning EQ! I'm excited because this morning is General Conference talk release date. I was profoundly moved by so many messages and am excited to dig into these talks.
First, we'd like quorum feedback on which talks to discuss in our quorum meetings. Here's a link for a quick survey. https://forms.gle/AYKbw75422iRpTDt8
Second, we would still like quorum input on topics to discuss in our councils at the beginning of our meeting. Here's the anonymous link again to submit questions or topics you would like addressed:
Lastly, it's time to announce the winners of the bracket challenge and to figure out who they were. The top three all picked Florida to win. The winner was BRADDS, who I'm guessing is Brad Anderson; second place was mallory1974, who I'm guessing is Rodney Mallory; and third place was More like "Gay Town", which has me stumped. Please let me know who you are so we can get you your award.
Thanks all, looking forward to being together as a quorum.
Shea Gibbons
Hope you enjoyed Easter, and that you were able to think about our Savior and His sacrifice for all of us.
The subject talk this Sunday is "As a Little Child", by President Jeffrey R Holland.
As always, you can access this talk by clicking on the above link, or you can get it through the church website under General Conference (April 2025), or through the Library app (click on Home, then scroll down).
Please study and ponder the talk prior to Sunday so we can have the benefit of your thoughts.
Your Gayton Ward Elders Quorum Presidency
Brethren,
Many of you probably heard this already, but we rolled out the interest groups that we sent a survey about a few weeks ago. Please use the QR codes below to join any of these groups. To join a group, just point your smartphone camera at a particular QR code and click on the link that pops up, or you can just click/tap on the associated graphic. Either way you'll be led through the signup process. We're using the GroupMe app.
For some of the interest groups, a facilitator will lead out in setting up regular activities, like for book club, Dungeons and Dragons, and board games. If a group doesn't select an initial facilitator in the coming week, then we'll ask someone to step into that role, at least initially.
For other groups, we envision them acting more informally, such as the home improvement/DIY/tool borrowing group, or maybe the mountain biking group. Maybe you need a tool or just guidance for a project, and you can reach out to that group for help. The same goes for if you're going biking or fishing and want company or a ride.
The goal is to create opportunities to build relationships with each other, so we invite you to participate in at least one group on a regular basis. Be generous with your tools, toys, time, and expertise, and most importantly, have fun and make friends. It can be hard for us as men to do things together and make time for relationships outside our families, but it's important and it's worth it.
Brethren, we're excited about the opportunities these groups will create, and pray that they will bring about strong and enduring bonds of brotherhood.
Your Gayton Ward EQ Presidency.

Brothers, here are some latest news regarding a couple of the Gayton EQ interest groups:
Gayton EQ Book Club, August 11 or 13, Location TBA
Book Selection: Grit, by Angela Duckworth
The U.S. Army Military Academy at West Point had a problem. After a grueling recommendation and interview process to get admitted into the elite academy, in the first summer far too many cadets would wash out, wasting precious time and money.
So West Point leaders turned to psychologist Angela Duckworth to research and attempt to fix the problem. Duckworth determined that one of the best predictors of success at West Point, and life, was grit, or consistency of effort over the long run. Duckworth’s research had many applications for our lives and for us as parents, employees, and leaders.

Information Concerning Priesthood Line of Authority
The First Presidency has authorized the gathering of information for priesthood lines of authority for the following:
Melchizedek Priesthood conferral (usually ordination to the office of elder)
Ordination to the office of high priest
Tracing Priesthood Line of Authority
When you ordain others to offices in the Melchizedek Priesthood, their priesthood line of authority will be determined by the priesthood office you hold at the time you perform the ordination. For example, if you are an elder when you ordain your son an elder, he would trace his line of authority through your elder ordination line of authority. However, if you are a high priest when you ordain your son an elder, he would trace his line of authority through your high priest ordination line of authority.
Note: Though a priesthood holder with the office of seventy may be included in a member's personal line of authority, no separate line of authority is maintained for the office of seventy. Ordained bishops and patriarchs trace their priesthood line of authority through their high priest ordination. Priesthood line of authority is not recorded for Aaronic Priesthood offices.
Requesting Your Priesthood Line of Authority
If you wish to request your priesthood line of authority, include your full legal name, birth date, membership record number (if known), the name of the individual who ordained you to the office of elder or high priest (if known), and your return address and telephone number or e-mail address. Send your request to:
Priesthood Line of Authority
Global Service Center
120 North 200 West
Salt Lake City, Utah 84103-1514
Fax: 1-801-240-6816
Te l e p h o n e : 1-800-453-3860, extension 2-3500
E-mail: lineofauthority@ldschurch.org (This is probably lineofauthority@churchofjesuschrist.org now)
Correcting Your Priesthood Line of Authority
Upon receipt, review your Priesthood Line of Authority document for accuracy. If any information is incomplete or inaccurate, send corrections to the street or e-mail address shown above. Corrections or additions should include officiator names and birth dates or approximate ages; locations where ordinations occurred; and your relationship to officiators, if any (such as father, father-in-law, bishop, and so on). An updated and corrected Priesthood Line of Authority document will be sent to you.
Validity of Your Priesthood Ordination
Because of missing information your priesthood line of authority may be incomplete. In such a case, your priesthood ordination is nevertheless valid because:
Your stake president, through the priesthood keys he held at the time, authorized your ordination.
Your ordination was recorded in the official records of the Church.
Click here ,or the picture to the left, to download a PDF eBook from 2012 containing priesthood lines of authority for most of the High Priest who were in the Gayton Ward at that time. Google will tell you the file is too big to view but you can download it. Google will also tell you that it cannot scan the file for viruses because of it size but you can click on download anyway. The file does not contain any viruses. The eBook is 147MB. Contact Bill Haynes if you have any questions.
